Everything about Rock Sound totally explained

Rock Sound is a British magazine which champions alternative music. The magazine aims at being more "underground" and less commercial. It covers the best new music from Mastodon to Modest Mouse, Slayer to Sigur Rós.

History

The UK edition of Rock Sound (also known as ROCKSOUND) was launched in March 1999 by the French publisher Editions Freeway, who already published the title in France. It managed to establish itself in a very competitive market and was bought out by its director, Patrick Napier, in December 2004 so it's now completely independent.

Editorial Positioning

Rock Sound’s agenda is to bring the best new music to the masses, often featuring new bands way ahead of other magazines. Bands that Rock Sound was on from the start include My Chemical Romance, Muse, Million Dead, Mastodon, Aereogramme, Hell Is For Heroes, Funeral For A Friend, Every Time I Die and Brand New to name just a few.

Circulation

Rock Sound has an ABC of 23,260 (January-June 2007 ABC). It is available on newsstands throughout the world.
